Our new Parent Education webinar series will feature presentations on a variety of topics, ranging from the fields of education, mental health, and speech & language. The presentations are scheduled for 12noon-12:45. The presentations are about 30 minutes in length followed by 15 minutes of Q&A.

Executive Dysfunction in the Middle School and High School Classroom: Identification and Intervention

Our Director of Educational Services, Ashley Koedel, will address what executive function deficits are and how they may impact a student’s ability to work efficiently, accurately, and confidently. We will discuss environmental support as well as classroom and homework strategies that can assist students with these deficits by addressing organization, time management, task initiation, working memory, and metacognition.

The Parent-Teacher Partnership: Addressing Anxiety in the Classrom

This presentation will focus on how caregivers can work with their child’s school team to address their anxiety in the classroom. An introduction to the school’s tiered system of supports will be provided, so that caregivers can understand the different type of staff available for partnership. Practical information on the steps involved in the collaboration process, how to approach anxiety as a team, and different strategies for supporting anxious students will be discussed.
